The Ravenna Bulldogs got off to a strong start in conference softball play on Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of the Holton Red Devils.

In the opener, Ravenna won 9-3 and, in the nightcap, 11-0.

Emma Gillard pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs in the opener. She allowed two hits, one walk and struck out 11. All three runs were unearned.

Leading hitters were Riley Homoly with three hits and Kara Postema, Ellie Solem and Emma Herremans with two each. Herremans hits were both doubles. 

Abbie Fowler and Kenzie Green had hits for the Red Devils.

Addison Gillard was the winning pitcher for Ravenna in the second game. She pitched three innings, gave up one hit, one walk and struck out five.

Postema led the way in the second game with three hits. Homoly and Gillard had two hits each.

Grace Thompson had a hit for Holton.
