HOLTON — The Fruitport Trojans and Holton Red Devils split a non-league softball twinbill on Friday at Holton

Holton won the first game 1-0 and Fruitport got its bats going in the second game and earned a 9-5 victory in eight innings

In the opener, Ryan Robins tossed a two-hit shutout to spark the Red Devils.

The game was tied until Lexi Bartolameolli scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Kadence Springstead was solid on the mound for Fruitport. She allowed one run on three hits and struck out four.

In the second game, Fruitport plated five runs in the top of the eighth inning to capture the victory. The game was tied at 4-all after seven innings.

Ash Olson and Olive Staal had two hits each to pace Fruitport. Brooklyn Russell, the winning pitcher, knocked in a pair of runs.
