SHELBY — The Shelby Tigers began their baseball season with a pair of shutouts over Brethren on Thursday.

The Tigers won the opener 10-0 and the nightcap 20-0.

In the opener, Lalo Garcia threw a five-inning no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and two walks.

Trey Waller, Garcia, Travis Boughan and Chase Simon each had two hits to lead the offense. Boughan and Simon each drive in a pair of runs.

Waller was the winning pitcher in the nightcap by combining with Dayday Garcia on a one-hitter.

Shelby had 15 hits in the contest, paced by Garcia and Waller with three hits each. Garcia, Wyatt Dickman and Boughan each had two hits.
