HOLLAND–The Spring Lake Lakers claimed Game 2 of their baseball doubleheader and earned a split with the host Holland Christian Maroons.

Holland Christian won the opener, 4-2, while Spring Lake took the nightcap, 9-1.

In the first game, Spring Lake jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but did not score again. Holland Christian plated three runs in the third and one in the fourth to claim the victory.

Spring Lake, which left 10 runners on base, received two hits each from Oliver Smies and Derrick Paggeott.

In the nightcap, Spring Lake scored four runs in the second and three in the third to quickly gain the upper hand.
 
Gerrit Lyyski pitched seven innings. He allowed two hits and struck out nine. Owen Smies, Lyyski, Gabe May and Gabe Trask each had two hits.
 
Spring Lake (8-4, 5-3) will host the Maroons at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the third game of the series. Holland Christian is 4-4 in league play.
