SPRING LAKE — The host Spring Lake Lakers made quick work of Western Michigan Christian in nonleague baseball action on Friday.

Spring Lake won the opener 11-1 in six innings and the nightcap 14-4 in five innings.

In the opener, the Lakers belted three home runs to earn the victory. Gerrit Lyyski, Zane Stahl and Gabe May all contributed home runs to the cause. Oliver Smies had three hits, Lyyski added two hits and Zach Schlepp had two hits and scored three runs for Spring Lake.

Oliver Smies was the winning pitcher. He allowed three hits and struck out eight.

In the second game, the Warriors scored the game’s first run, but Spring Lake stormed back with three in the second and eight in the third to take control of the game. Two runs in the fifth ended the game with the 10-run rule.

Gabe Trask led the Lakers with four hits and scores three runs, Derrick Paggeot added three hits and three RBI while Jaden Core had two hits and scored two runs. Ryan Grimm was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Spring Lake is now 4-1 while WM Christian fell to 2-6-1.
