WHITEHALL – After an early 5-0 deficit, the Whitehall girls softball team stormed back to beat Hart, 15-5 in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday at home. The Vikings rolled to an 18-2 win in the nightcap.  

Offensively, the Vikings were led by Annabel Kevwatch, Evelyn Darke, Kierra Hyms and Lianne Fagan with a double each. Tucker, Hyms and Fagan each drove in two runs.  

Megan LeaTrea earned the win on the mound. 

Hart’s Gabbryella Schmieding pitched the first game and surrendered 15 runs on seven hits over four innings. She struck out seven and solid after a rocky start.  

Kelsey Copenhaver and Julia Bishop each had multiple-hit games for the Pirates. Copenhaver led the way, going 3-for-3.  

The Pirates managed just one hit in the nightcap, a home run by Abby Hicks, as opposed to nine for the Vikings.  

Whitehall scored nine runs in the second inning to grab the early lead.  

Onnyka Dempsey, LeaTrea and Fagan all had multi-hit games. Dempsey had three hits, including a double and triple.  

Tucker pitched for the Vikings and struck out four. She was aided by a solid defense led by LeaTrea at first base. 

Copenhaver pitched for the Pirates and threw four innings, allowing 18 runs on nine hits. She struck out four.
