HUDSONVILLE–The Western Michigan Christian track and field teams traveled to Hudsonville Unity Christian on Saturday for the Houseward Invitational.
 
The field was comprised of 13 Christian schools from around the Midwest.
 
In the girls’ division, the Warriors finished in ninth place with 16 points. Grand Rapids Christian took the top spot with 126 points. Grand Rapids Christian also took the top spot in the boys’ division with 105 points.
 
Western Michigan Christian highlights included junior Andrew Brink with a personal best in the discus of 103-1 for ninth place, Matthias Morse (5:03.19) and Graeson Lawrence (5:06.69) in the 1,600-meter run. Morse was 19th and Lawrence finished 21st.
 
In the girls meet, the 4×800 relay team of junior Eleanor Kingshott, sophomore Morgan Lawrence, sophomore Grace VanderKooi and junior Grace Folkema placed fourth at 10:38.94. The 4×400 relay team of Kingshott, freshman Paige Chapel, Folkema and VanderKooi also placed fourth with a time of 4:36.04.
 
Individually, Grace VanderKooi ran a 1,600-meter time of 5:22.61, establishing the WMC sophomore girls record and moves to No. 2 on the all-time WMC list in that event. That effort led to a second-place finish.
 
The WMC teams will return to action on Friday afternoon at the Rich Tompkins Packer Relay in Fremont.
