WHITEHALL — The host Whitehall Vikings and the Fremont Packers battled through two baseball games on Monday.

In the end, each team went home with a victory with Fremont winning the first game, 4-2, and Whitehall coming back in the nightcap to win, 7-1.

In the first game, Gabe VanVleet pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four hits and two walks. He struck out six.

Carl Vliem had three hits for the Packers. Johnny Keena added a double and three RBI. Fremont scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning.

Isaac VanAmberg had a triple and Jaden Brinkert a double for Whitehall. Kyle Stratton was the losing pitcher.

In the nightcap, Stratton had three hits, one a double, and an RBI to lead the Vikings. Ryne Christiansen had two hits and three RBI and Landon Howe had two hits and knocked in one run.

VanAmberg was the winning pitcher. He allowed three hits, no earned runs and walked seven. He had four strikeouts.

Fremont had three hits in the nightcap.

Whitehall is now 18-10 overall, 6-4 in the league.
