WHITEHALL — The Fruitport Trojans took advantage of numerous errors by Whitehall and defeated the Vikings 9-3 in the first game of a non-league doubleheader on Wednesday. Lucy Tucker earned the Vikings a split with a stellar pitching performance. The Vikings won the second game, 12-2.

The Vikings committed nine errors in the first game and that helped push the Trojans to the victory. Fruitport scored five runs in the sixth inning.

Annabel Kevwitch and Kierra Hyrns each had two hits for the Vikings. Hyrns drove in all three of the Vikings’ runs.

Megan LeaTrea suffered the loss on the mound for Whitehall. She allowed two earned runs and eight hits.

In the nightcap, Tucker allowed four hits and one earned run and was the winning pitcher.

Onnyka Dempsey had two hits and two RBI. Hailey Carnes also had a pair of hits. Harper Leon drove in two runs.

Whitehall scored three runs in the first inning and six in the second to gain the upper hand.
