GRAND RAPIDS — Kent City won the opener and Grant won the nightcap in a softball doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Eagles won 7-1 in the first game while the Tigers came back for a 4-2 victory in the second game. The games were played at Cornerstone University.

In the opener, Lexie Bowers, Laynee Hoffman and Jade Mortensen each had two hits for Kent City. Mortensen had a double. Abby Pecynski had a double and knocked in two runs. Jacee Hoffman was the winning pitcher. She allowed one earned run in seven innings of work. She had 12 strikeouts.

Taylor Self had a triple for the Tigers.

In the second game, Self had a double and Jayci Hance had a triple to lead Grant.

Emma Bliss was the winning pitcher for Grant. She had seven strikeouts in seven innings of work.
