Kimes, Hart relay teams lead Pirates to second-place finish at regional track meet

MANTON–The Hart boys track team came up just short of a MHSAA Division 3 regional title on Saturday.

Benzie Central racked up 112 points to Hart’s 101.

Senior Kellen Kimes led the way for the Pirates by winning both the shot put and discus. The Hart 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 800 relay teams each captured regional titles.

Other team scores included: Traverse City St. Francis (81), Reed City (79.5), Manton (52), White Cloud (50, Lake City (43), Evart (40), Chippewa Hills (37), Manistee (22), Mason County Central (17), McBain (16.5), Grand Traverse Academy (7) and Shelby (3).

Local top performances included:

100 Meters – Revin Gale, Hart (5th) and Vincent Ockert, White Cloud (6th)

200 Meters – Vincent Ockert, White Cloud (5th) and Nick Hornkohl, Manistee (6TH)

400 Meters – Guillermo Ortega, Hart (3rd); Nathan Ciolk, White Cloud (5th) and Joshua Brown, White Cloud (10th)

800 Meters – Wyatt Dean, Hart (4th) and Jack Slotman, Hart (10th)

1600 Meters – Clayton Ackley, Hart (4th)

3200 Meters – Clayton Ackley, Hart (2nd); Seth Ackley, Hart (5th) and Jack O’Donnell, Masnistee (9th)

110m Hurdles – Caleb Westerbeek, Hart (3rd)

300m Hurdles – Caleb Westerbeek, Hart (7th)
