HART — Madeline Billings scored a hat trick to lead the Ludington girls’ soccer team Thursday night in a 7-0 shutout of host Hart.

The game was played in the West Michigan Conference.

The Orioles opened up a 3-0 lead at the half, put up another four markers in the second half and controlled the game from start to finish.

“Hart never really threatened us,” Ludington coach Kris Anderson said. “We maintained control in the midfield, and really capitalized on chances that we had, which shows great improvement. We struggled with that earlier in the year, the finishing piece. It was kind of nice tonight that we put some balls in the back of the net.”

Scoring single goals for the Orioles were Grace Shamel, Maddison Martin, Saviera Moser and Emma McKinley. Karli Mesyar and Mya Martin each had an assist.

Ludington extended its winning streak to three straight, improving to 6-7-2 and is next scheduled to see action next Thursday at North Muskegon.

Hart fell to 2-9-4 with its fifth straight loss and is at Orchard View on Monday.
