WHITEHALL — Ludington went 1-1 at the Whitehall Baseball Classic on Saturday, defeating the host Vikings 3-2 in the first game and losing to Traverse City West 1-0 in the second.

Nathan Dillehay was the winning pitcher against the Vikings, throwing five innings and allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out five.

Jack Stidham came on to finish the last two innings out of the bullpen for the save, not allowing an earned run and fanning two batters.

Brody Kaminski ripped a double and drove in two runs while also drawing a walk. Gage Jones also had a double with one run batted in.

“The biggest takeaway from today is how our guys responded after the disappointing Tuesday at Fremont,” Ludington coach Evan Kroeze said. “We challenged them to compete every pitch today, and they did just that. The pitching was excellent all day. Offensively, we would have liked a few more hits to drop, but we had great approaches and made hard contact in both games.”

The Vikings also finished 1-1 on the day with a 4-1 win over the Titans.

Brock Morningstar led the Vikings at the plate against the Orioles, going 3-for-3 with one RBI. Ryne Christiansen and Isaac VanAmberg had one hit apiece.

Christensen was the losing pitcher, going the full seven innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits and striking out seven.

Jack McDowell picked up the win against the Titans giving up one earned run on four hits and two walks while he struck out six.

Kyle Stratton finished the game with two hits and one run batted in with two runs scored. Noah Meinert also had two hits and scored one run. Christensen and Landon Howe contributed one hit apiece.

Ludington moved to 8-13 overall and is 4-6 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division going into Monday afternoon’s game at home against division rival Manistee.

Whitehall went to 17-9 on the season and host Fremont in the WMC Lakes on Monday.
