SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central’s baseball team hosted Hart in a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division doubleheader Tuesday and came away with a sweep, 7-0 and 13-8.

Will Chye started on the hill in the first game and pitched a complete game, scattering four hits with one walk and notching 11 strikeouts.

Chye and Peyton Merz led the Spartans at the plate with three singles each. Braylin Thurow contributed two singles, while Drake McKay and Brayden Overmyer each had one hit.

In the second game, Merz threw the first 2 1/3 innings and gave up five runs while walking two and striking out three.

Thurow came on in relief and got the win. Over the final 4 1/3 innings, he allowed three runs while striking out three and no walks.

Merz paced the offense for the Spartans with three hits, a triple and two singles, while Simon Shimel contributed a triple and single.
Brady Anes had two singles while Thurow and McKay had one hit apiece.

The Spartans improved to 16-6 overall and 8-2 in the WMC Rivers and are scheduled to host Holton in the conference next Tuesday.
Hart has a non-conference doubleheader at home Friday with Muskegon Catholic Central.
