NORTON SHORES- The Mona Shores boys lacrosse team completed a clean sweep for the OK Conference title with an 11-8 victory against Lowell on Thursday evening.

The undefeated conference record comes just one year after sweeping the OK Conference Tier 3 and earning the promotion to Tier 2.

“This is an amazing accomplishment for our players, especially the seniors who have been here for the last three years,” said head coach Murle Greer.

“They earned this and deserve it for all their hard work and dedication to the game and each other.  We are all so so proud of them.”

Both teams traded leads over the first three quarters and went into the fourth quarter tied, 7-7.

Seniors Luke Beilhartz and JJ Boos led the scoring with three goals apiece.

Senior Jake Nanna and sophomore Ezra Carefelle chipped in two scores each while senior Brayton Conrad added one goal.

The Sailors dug in and found an edge in extra possessions and won crucial ground balls through the match.

“We live on the edge but we don’t quit and we know how to finish,” said Greer.

Senior goalkeeper Parker Hayward made 12 saves including key stops late in the game.

“We are challenged every time we compete and I appreciate the effort from our opponents,” said Greer. “It makes us better on the field and forces us to dig deep and fight through adversity.”

Mona Shores (12-1, 9-0) will play host to the annual Lax-Shore Challenge on Saturday along with other boys and girls lacrosse squads. The Sailors are set to face Spring Lake.
