NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores girls lacrosse team capped off the regular season with a tight 8-7 victory over Holland West Ottawa on Monday.

“We were playing some different lines and pulled up a few players from JV and they handled themselves very well,” said Shores coach Chip Vasquez.

Allison Fritz led the Sailors with to goals and four assists followed by Elena Kass with three goals and two assists. Reese Smith, Koryn Holman and Eva Shinaberry added one goal apiece.

Kennedy Hynde contributed with eight ground balls and four draw controls.

Peyton Merrill and Natalie Saxton were making their varsity debut for the Sailors.

“You never know how young players will react in their first varsity start but they showed that they belonged,” said Vasquez.

Mona Shores (8-12, 5-5) will kick off the postseason on Wednesday, May 24. The Sailors will face the winner of West Ottawa vs. Kalamazoo United.
