MUSKEGON — The Mona Shores Sailors pulled out a pair of dramatic victories on Tuesday in a baseball doubleheader sweep of rival Reeths-Puffer.

The Sailors won the opener, 2-1, and scored four runs in the top of the seventh in the nightcap to win, 4-2.

In the opener, Jaxon Huffman pitched a gem. He allowed three hits and an unearned run. He had 12 strikeouts.

Mona Shores scored on RBI singles by Isaac Habetler and Zach Keessen. Luke Opfermann had two hits to lead the Sailors’ offense.
 
David Wilhelm had two hits for Reeths-Puffer.
 
In the second game, the Sailors trailed 2-0 heading into the top of the seventh. Opfermann walked, followed by a single by Jaden Ammeraal. Keessen’s bunt single loaded the bases. Javanni Johnson scored Opfermann with a sacrifice fly then Huffman delivered a two-run single to make it 3-2. Ethan Ring’s two-out, RBI single plated the fourth run of the inning. Ring finished with three hits.
Keessen and Johnson each had two hits.
 
Trevor Cunningham was the winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run on eight hits. He struck out seven. Ring earned the save by striking out the final batter of the game.
 
Trent Reichert pitched a solid game for the Rockets. He struck out four in seven innings of work.
 
Kyle Schlaff and Wilhelm each had two hits.
 
Mona Shores is 19-7, 12-5.
