HART — A depleted band of Hart Pirates faced long odds against Muskegon Catholic in a baseball doubleheader.

Already missing their clean-up hitter, the Pirates lost another starter then lost both ends of the twinbill.

Muskegon Catholic won the opener, 12-4, and the nightcap 4-0.

“We remained tough until the last pitch,” Pirate coach Dave Riley said. “We look forward to finishing the final stretch of the regular season strong.”

Carter Ramseyer collected a base hit and one run batted in before he was sidelined. Blake Weirich also had a base hit and a walk, with one RBI. Ty Schlukebir rapped out a hit and drew a walk, scoring one run.

Catcher Halen Boos was credited with playing a strong game behind the plate.

In the second game, Weirich threw six innings and allowed four runs, two earned, walked three and struck out eight.

Schlukebir and Avery Guikema had one hit apiece for the Pirates.

The Pirates fell to 8-15 on the season and travel to Western Michigan Christian on Monday.

Muskegon Catholic Central has a single game scheduled with North Muskegon on Tuesday.
