PLYMOUTH, Ind. — The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk men’s golf team finished in 20th place in the NJCAA Division II national golf tournament this week.
 
The event was played at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Ind.

The Jayhawks’ four-day total of 1,284 was 116 shots behind national champion Kirkwood Community College, which shot a 1,168. Parkland College was second with 1,176 and South Mountain Community College and Walters State Community College tied for third at 1,180.

Warner Beach, from Glendale Community College, was the national champion with a four-day total of 282. Damon Vilkauskas from South Mountain was second at 283.

Muskegon was led by Steve Cullen, who finished the tournament with a 302. His fourth round on Friday was highlighted by an eagle-3 on the par 5, 15th hole, which is 515 yards. Cullen shot rounds of 75-78-75-74 and finished tied for 38th among the 130 golfers. He advanced seven places in the standings with his final-round score of 74.

Ben Zwick finished tied for 100th with a total of 324. He had rounds of 80-80-84-80. He moved up two spots on Friday.

Tyler Tallefson finished tied for 108th at 332. He had rounds of 85-79-85-83. Dylan Lisman rounded out the scoring tied for 114th place. His four rounds included 80-83-85-92–340.

Andrew Taylor withdrew from the tournament and did not complete the fourth round.
