MUSKEGON — The North Muskegon Norsemen wrestled the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association baseball title away from the Mona Shores with strong hitting and solid pitching.

North Muskegon defeated Reeths-Puffer 6-0 in the semifinals and Mona Shores 12-2 in the championship game.

The Sailors had won the GMAA title the last four seasons until Saturday’s performance by North Muskegon at historic Marsh Field.

In the semifinals, Ryan Delora pitched a gem as the Norse blanked Reeths-Puffer. Delora struck out 11 and walked two.

In the title game, it was Troy McManus’ turn to dominate on the mound. In the six-inning game, McManus pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed two runs and struck out nine.

At the plate, North Muskegon scored seven runs in the top of the first inning to take quick control of the game. McManus helped his own cause at the plate with a double and three RBI. Ben Meyers had two hits, one a triple, and scored four runs.  Carsen Moat had three hits and scored two runs and Denny Belmonte knocked in a pair of runs.

North Muskegon is now 19-5-1.
