GRAND RAPIDS — North Muskegon got by Covenant Christian in a pair of one-run games on Monday in non-league softball action.

The Norse won the opener, 6-5, and the nightcap, 11-10 in 10 innings.

In the opener North Muskegon opened up a five-run lead in the fourth inning then held on for dear life.

Madison Balon led North Muskegon with three hits, including a home run and a double. Lucy Fricke also had a key double in the four-run third inning. Rylee Cooper also had a multi-hit game.
 
Balon was the winning pitcher. She allowed five runs on nine hits over seven innings. She struck out 13 and walked one.
 
In the second game, North Muskegon broke the tie in the top of the 10th inning on a groundout by Audrey Brown.
 
Mattie Houseman had four hits to lead North Muskegon. Balon smacked two home runs. Baila Lang also had a multi-hit game.
 
Balon pitched 10 innings and allowed nine hits and eight runs. She struck out 11 and walked one.
 
 North Muskegon (16-10, 8-4) plays in the Cadillac Invitational on Saturday.
