SHELBY — In a West Michigan Conference Rivers Division doubleheader at home Tuesday, the Shelby baseball team swept the Hesperia Panthers, 7-3 and 12-2.

In the first game, Danien Garcia was the winning pitcher, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out 10.

Lalo Garcia had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning in the nightcap, but ended up with a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

He finished the day as the Tigers leading hitter with four, including a two-run home run, and four runs batted in.

Chase Simon, Cam Smith and Danien Garcia had four hits apiece for the Tigers.

The Tigers now move on to district tournament play at home against Morley Stanwood next Tuesday.

Hesperia was scheduled to travel to Kent City Wednesday.
