HUDSONVILLE — The Spring Lake Lakers’ road trip to Hudsonville did not go as planned on Tuesday.
The Lakers dropped a doubleheader to Hudsonville Unity Christian. The Crusaders won the opener, 2-1 and the nightcap, 4-0.
In the opener, Spring Lake led 1-0 until Unity scored one in the bottom of the sixth to tie it and one in the bottom of the seventh to win it. The winning hit was an RBI walk-off single.
Zach Schlepp had the only hit for Spring Lake, an RBI-single in the second inning that scored Gabe Trask. Zane Stahl suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed three hits and struck out seven in 6 1/3 innings of work.
In the nightcap, Spring Lake managed just four hits. Stahl had two hits, one a triple. Gerrit Lyyski allowed four hits and struck out 10 in taking the loss on the mound.
Spring Lake is now 14-11 overall, 9-8 in OK-Blue play.
