COOPERSVILLE — The Spring Lake Lakers stranded runners on base in the opener then couldn’t slow down the Coopersville offense in the nightcap and dropped an OK-Blue baseball doubleheader to the host Broncos.
 
Spring Lake lost the opener, 5-2, and the nightcap, 6-4.
 
In the opener, Gabe Trask and Jaden Core each had a pair of hits for the Lakers. Zane Stahl took the loss on the mound. He gave up five runs and struck out eight.
 
In the second game, the Broncos scored at least one run in each of the first five innings enroute to the victory. Spring Lake committed an uncharacteristic five errors in the game that helped the Broncos’ cause.
 
Gerrit Lyyski had two hits. He also took the loss on the mound. He allowed five hits and had two strikeouts.
 
Spring Lake (15-13, 10-10) will host Coopersville in the final game of the regular season at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
