HART — Nolan Wawszcyk earned the win in relief for the White Cloud baseball team in a 4-1 single game victory over Hart on the road Thursday.
Wawszcyk came on in the second inning for the Indians and worked the next four innings, allowing the one earned run while giving up three hits, walking two and striking out three.
Mason Cruzan pitched the seventh when Wawszcyk gave up a leadoff single. Cruzan proceeded set down the next three batters in order, striking out the last two.
The Indians sent freshman Reece Hewitt started the game and threw two innings with two strikeouts and allowing one hit.
Noah Robinson beat out an infield single with one out in the fifth inning of a scoreless tie. advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Wawszcyk. KJ Strait reached on an error before Mason Ruether cleared the bases with a three-run homer for all the runs White Cloud would need.
Hart answered with its only run in the bottom of the fifth, which the Indians got back on Strait’s first career home run. That solo shot made it 4-1.
White Cloud (12-6-1) is scheduled to host Kent City in the Central State Activities Conference on Friday.
The Pirates return to action in the Larsen County Tournament at Mason County Central in Scottville on Saturday.
