NORTON SHORES – The Western Michigan Christian girls’ soccer team breezed by rival Muskegon Catholic Central, 5-0, in the Division 4 district opener on Wednesday.

“I thought we played really well in some moments, linked passes really well, moved for each other really well, and had good energy,” said WMC coach Jared McFarland.

Brooklyn Watts led with a hat trick while Ally Oppenhuizen and Bri Zuidema each added a score.

Maria Eenigenburg chipped in with two assists.

“Maria was instrumental in midfield for us tonight,” said McFarland. “She found great passes and helped us keep the ball when we needed to.”

Also, Kaiya Betten was relentless and created multiple opportunities for the Warriors.

Elaina Clapp posted the shutout in net with five saves.

The Warriors will face NorthPointe Christian in the district semifinals at 5 p.m. Tuesday at North Muskegon.
