WHITEHALL — The Whitehall Vikings posted a pair of home victories on Thursday with a doubleheader sweep of Shelby in baseball.

The Vikings won the opener, 9-3, and the nightcap, 8-2.

In the first game, Kyle Stratton had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs to spark the Vikings. Ryne  Christiansen also had three hits, one a double, two RBI and three stolen bases. Isaac VanAmberg had a pair of hits, including a double, and Nolan Taranko had a pair of hits.

Jack McDowell was the winning pitcher for Whitehall (11-7, 3-3).

Lalo Garcia had two hits for Shelby, which finished with four hits.

In the second game, Ladson Howe had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI to lead Whitehall. McDowell, Stratton and VanAmberg had two hits each. 

Jayden Brinkert was the winning pitcher. In all, Whitehall used three pitchers that combined to allow the Tigers just one hit.
