SHELBY — Kendall Zaverl scored four goals in the first half in the Shelby girls soccer team’s 6-2 West Michigan Conference victory over Hart at home Monday.

The Tigers got their offense clicking right off the bat, pressuring the Hart goalkeeper and defense and opening up a 5-1 lead at the half.

Hannah Frees assisted on two of Zaverl’s first half goals, and Haydee Pedroza was credited with a helper on one. Frees scored the other first half goal, assisted by Klotz.

The Pirates’ only goal in the first half was scored by Sandy Salgado.

Brianna Arjona scored the other Hart goal in the second half, while Frees notched her second for the Tigers to end the scoring for the game. It was unassisted.

Shelby improved to 6-7-1 overall on the season travels to Grant for its next game on Friday.

Hart fell to 2-8-4 on the season and will host Ludington in another WMC game Thursday.
