MONTAGUE–Montague senior Nick Moss is taking his baseball talents to Lake Michigan College in the fall.

Moss recently signed his national letter of intent to attend college in Benton Harbor.

The Red Hawks compete in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association.

Moss has been a key part of leading Montague to a 22-12 record this season.

Currently, he has a .604 batting average with 55 hits along with 27 stolen bases and a .703 slugging percentage.

During his three-year career, Moss has played shortstop, second base and catcher. He is most comfortable as a middle infielder.

“I’m the type of person that tends to want to overachieve and I thought going to a two-year college would allow me to be at my best potential to go and play at a bigger university after my two years with LMC,” said Moss.

“I think growing up in Montague really shaped my mentality that work will beat talent if talent doesn’t want to work, meaning that no matter how good I thought I was, there is always someone in front of me,” he said. “Growing up in Montague, I believe that’s a sense of culture you get being a small school, and often times, playing teams that have double even triple the enrollment numbers.”

Moss plans to major in business at LMC. He has a 3.45 grade-point-average. He is the son of Jeff and Ann Moss.
