The Muskegon girls’ basketball team overcame a first-quarter deficit and finished strong, defeating Mona Shores 52-42 in an O-K Green clash on Tuesday night.

The Big Reds trailed 8-5 at the end of the first quarter, then went on a 15-10 second quarter run to take a slim 20-18 halftime lead.

Muskegon extended its advantage to 29-18 heading into the final quarter before outscoring the Sailors 18-16 in the last quarter to seal the win.

Camiyah Bonner led the Big Reds with a game-high 23 points.

Mona Shores was paced by Khaleeya Cook with 11 points and Tia Norman with six.
