It’s been quite a week of golf for Mona Shores’ sophomore Cooper Nellis.

Three days ago, Nellis bagged his first hole-in-one at Oak Ridge Golf Club. On Wednesday, Nellis shot an even-par 33 and led the Sailors to an OK-Green golf jamboree title. The jamboree was played at Indian Trails Golf Course. It was the seventh, and final, jamboree of the season.

Nellis led the way with a 33, which tied him for medalist honors with Zeeland West’s Michael Griffin.

Mona Shores finished at 142, followed by Zeeland West at 145, Holland at 149, Reeths-Puffer at 164 and Grand Rapids Union at 168.

Other Sailors golfers included Josiah Bement at 35, Lucas Dethloff at 36, Eddie Kuznar and Kaidyn Berghuis at 38 and Nathan Tilden with a 40.

The Rockets, with its fourth-place finish, was led by senior Jake Lee, who shot a career best 39. Kristian Brown, a sophomore, shot a 40. His round was highlighted by a birdie on No. 9. Senior Dylan Panozzo shot a 42 and included a birdie on No. 7.

“Jake Lee continues to play solid golf,” said Rocket coach Matt Pallett. “He had a slight equipment change and has been playing well since. Hopefully, he continues to play well as his high school career is coming to an end.”

Ayden Hartzell finished with a 43. Ryleigh Beebe and Calvin Schlee finished at 46 and 49, respectively.

Next Wednesday, the Sailors and Rockets head to the OK-Green Conference championship at The Ravines.

“I am interested to see how my guys respond with the conference championship and regionals on deck,” said Pallett.
