LUDINGTON — Ludington split a home quad Wednesday night, defeating Clare in a five-set marathon (25-15, 20-25, 25-19, 25-22) and losing to McBain (22-25, 19-25).

“We played really well tonight,” said Orioles’ coach Liz Holden. “McBain is a really solid team with seven seniors this year, but we came out really strong against them.

“I saw a lot of really good things tonight. It was a great way to find those things we need to work on moving forward.

“The girls played some good defense and pulled together in the end. I am excited to see how much better we will be further into the season, because they exceeded my expectations already.”
