LUDINGTON — Ludington’s balanced scoring attack led to a 5-0 soccer shutout victory over the Hart Pirates on Monday.

Five players scored goals in Ludington’s West Michigan Conference opener at Oriole Field.

Defense was perhaps even more impressive than the offense for the Orioles, which allowed just one shot on goal. Orioles’ veteran keeper Gabe Gamez recorded the shutout.

While the Pirates were going nowhere on offense, the Orioles put in three goals in the first half.

“It was a complete team game,” said Ludington coach Kris Anderson. “When you only give up one shot, that shows that you’re doing good things in front of your goalkeeper.

“We had five different guys score goals, and five different players with assists, a couple of them were from guys who (also) scored goals. That’s a complete victory.”

Goals were scored by Steele Stowe, Ayden Eaton, Ty Reed, Erdman and Jayden Mirretti.

Reed, Alex Smith, Eaton, Kyle Stidham and Austin Reed each recorded an assist.

The Orioles are now 4-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference, play another conference game at Orchard View on Wednesday.
