GRAND BLANC – Mona Shores football was able to keep its lead tight in a 28-26 win over Grand Blanc at the Flint and Genesee Vehicle City Gridiron Classic on Thursday night.

The Sailors’ win was led by a tough ground attack, amassing 341 yards compared to Grand Blanc’s 76 yards.

Quarterback Jonathan Pittman carried the load for Mona Shores, gaining three touchdowns on 25 carries for 192 yards rushing. The senior also was 5-of 12-passing for 43 yards and an interception.

Tomarion Steward followed the Sailors’ ground game with 112 yards on 19 attempts. Tyrese McCorvey-Hill tallied a rushing touchdown and finished with 29 yards on two carries.

Defensively, the Sailors were led by Corey Bothwell with five tackles and an interception.
