ALLENDALE – Caledonia ran away with the title in the OK-Green Mid-Season golf tournament on Thursday with a 16-shot victory.
Caledonia shot a 336, followed by Byron Center at 352, Reeths-Puffer at 368, Mona Shores with a 383 and Jenison at 408.
Copelin O’Krangley, from Caledonia, shot a blistering round of 69 to claim the overall title. Reeths-Puffer’s Rowan Bluhm was second at 78. Mona Shores’ Mayson Southland came in with an 85 for fifth place. Reeths-Puffer’s Sophia McCollum was eighth with an 89 and Mona Shores’ Avery Nehra was 10th with a 92.
Bluhm, a senior, shot her varsity career-best score of 78 in a round that was highlighted by an eagle-3 on the first hole. She added back-to-back birdies on Nos. 16 and 17. Her shot on the par 3 17th came inches from a hole-in-one.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Rowan Bluhm,” said Rocket coach Matt Pallett. “She has had a personal goal of shooting a round in the 70s and today was her day. She is an extremely hard worker. She is an amazing person and leader for this team.”
McCollum’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the first hole. Finishing third for the Rockets was sophomore Olivia Ambler with a 95. Ella Voorhies finished with a 106 and Emma Dvorak had a 140.
“I am very proud of the team today,” said Matt Pallett. “Several of the girls have recently struggled with their swings. Today they battled through it and figured some things out.”
Reeths-Puffer will compete on Friday in the Greenville Invitational.
