FREMONT – The Fremont boys’ soccer team snapped Montague’s perfect West Michigan Conference record and 10-game win streak with a 3-1 win on Wednesday.

The Packers led 1-0 at the half with a goal from Joey Mansfield.

The score remained until 19 minutes left to play when the Wildcats’ Hunter Phipps netted the tying goal.

The Packers weren’t done though, and Colson Buitendorp bagged the go-ahead goal off of an assist from Flavio Marino, while Deagan Klimek scored an insurance goal with an assist from Caleb Vissia to put the game away.

The Packers outshot the Wildcats 12-8.

Caleb Vissia made seven saves in the net for the Packers.

Fremont (13-4 overall, 6-2 WMC) will visit Whitehall for league play on Monday.

Montague (13-3 overall, 7-1 WMC) is set to host Fruitport on Thursday.
