FRUITPORT – The Fruitport boys soccer team found themselves on top of a battle with another top team in the OK Conference-Silver on Wednesday.
The No. 1-ranked Trojans pushed their conference hot streak to eight wins and topped NorthPointe Christian, 4-0, for a Senior Night victory.
“Our seven seniors: Isaac Vandermolen, Sam Krueger, Isaiah Packard, Carter Chandler, Grade Anspach, Logan Werschem and Braxton Ward have all represented our program the right way on and off the field,” said Fruitport coach Dan Hazekamp. “It’s a special group that I have been lucky to coach. Their impact is going to be felt for a long time.”
Vandermolen netted the Trojans’ only first-half score off of a cross from Satchel Norwood to lead, 1-0, at halftime.
The Trojans didn’t get on the board again until midway through the second half when they fired off three scores in a span of eight minutes.
Ryder Merkins, Jyles Smith and Norwood each scored a goal with the assists coming from Anspach, Nathaniel Cribley Cotto and Hudson Hazekamp, respectively.
Goalie Logan Werschem made four saves in his eighth consecutive shutout and 10th on the season.
Fruitport (13-0 overall, 8-0 OK-Silver) will travel to Montague on Thursday.
