Mason County Central football has found a new challenge for this week’s football game.
The Spartans will be hosting Centreville on Friday, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
“I know our football program is happy to get a bonus home game after opening the season with three straight on the road,” said MCC athletic director Brian Beebe. “Credit to Centreville for being willing to make the trip.”
Friday’s original game was to be played at Holton, which forfeited all of its remaining West Michigan Conference varsity games this season.
Centreville, a school located in St Joseph County near the Michigan-Indiana border, has been a very competitive Division 8 school for a number of seasons. They belong to the Southwest 10 Conference and have reached the playoffs the past six seasons including a state title in 2020.
MCC’s JV football team will face Holton on Thursday at home as the Red Devil’s JV squad is committed to the remainder of the season.
“Thank you to all the people behind the scenes who make this happen,” said Beebe. “It takes a number of workers, volunteers and people coming together in a very short time to make an event like this go.”
