ALTO – Mona Shores finished third and Reeths-Puffer was fourth in Tuesday’s OK-Green golf jamboree at Saskatoon Golf Club.
Caledonia, led by medalist Copelin O’Krangley’s 37, won the third league jamboree with a 37. As a team, Caledonia was first at 164. Byron Center finished second with a 175, followed by Mona Shores at 184, Reeths-Puffer at 198 and Jenison at 200.
Mona Shores’ Mayson Southland finished fourth with a 41 and teammate Lainee Carmena was seventh with a 44.
For the Rockets, it was a rough day as the team posted a season high in scoring. However, senior Rowan Bluhm and sophomore Sophia McCollum had solid showings. They tied for fifth overall at 43.
Sophomore Olivia Ambler shot a 53 and sophomore Ella Voorhies shot a 59. Emma Dvorak shot a 61. Her round was highlighted by her first-ever birdie on a par 3.
Madigan Pitcher, a freshman, made her varsity debut and finished at 62.
“Success does not always come easy,” said Rocket coach Matt Pallett. “Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a couple steps forward. Today was one of those days for the team. I am looking forward to seeing how the team bounces back from not one of our best days.”
Reeths-Puffer will be back in action Thursday in the Conference Mid-Season Tournament at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University.
