FRUITPORT – The Fruitport boys soccer team added a Division 2 district title to their dominating run with a 4-1 win over Reeths-Puffer on Thursday.
“I’m so proud of our boys to be able to win on our home field and have the community support through the district has been amazing,” said Fruitport coach Dan Hazekamp. “I am so happy for our community and program. We are looking forward to regionals.”
The Trojans led 3-0 by halftime with goals from Isaac Vandermolen, Carter Gregor and Jorge Burgos Yack. Grade Anspach and Hudson Hazekamp each tallied an assist in the first half.
Burgos Yack connected with Gregor in the second half to cap off the scoring and the win.
Logan Werschem made 11 saves in the net for the Trojans.
Fruitport (19-0-1) will open regional action against the winner of Petoskey0-Marquette, who play on Saturday. The regional semifinal is Tuesday at Cedar Springs.
