The Fruitport volleyball team lost their first league match of the season, losing to Calvin Christian in a five-set contest on Thursday night.
The Trojans lost by scores of 25-15, 21-25, 25-8, 23-25, and 10-15 to fall to 23-10 on the season and 6-1 in conference action.
“The girls played hard, but we were a little out of sync tonight,” said Fruitport coach Nicole Bayle. “We are taking this loss as a motivator as we get closer to the end of the season to step up and clean up some of the things that we still need to improve on.”
The Trojans were led by Sadie Haase with 23 kills while Ellie Stroup had 10. Gracelynn Olson chipped in with 44 assists.
Fruitport was paced defensively by Izabel Hanson-Wilbur with 24 digs while Emma Fecher had 19.
