ROCKFORD – The Grand Haven volleyball team kicked off a tough stretch to the end of the regular season with a three-set loss to No. 3 Division 1 Rockford, 15-25, 23-25, 18-25, on Tuesday.

“We are beginning the second round of OK Conference-Red play where our competition schedule will heat up,” said Grand Haven coach Aaron Smaka. “We have only played three matches since Sept. 21 and are ready to get out and compete on a more consistent basis.”

Nadia Prieditis led the Bucs with 11 kills and two aces. Ashley Fumarolo led the defense with 16 digs, while Allie Musial and Reghan Miller each chipped in five kills on offense.

“We played hard tonight,” said Smaka. “We had kids step up and we know we can compete with anyone on any given night.”

Grand Haven will host West Ottawa on Thursday for a conference match.
