BENZIE – The Hart boys’ cross country team qualified for the Division 3 state finals meet based on its second-place finish in Friday’s regional meet at Benzie Central.
Hart finished with 73 points for its runner-up finish. Host Benzie Central captured the team title with 45 points. Other area teams included Hesperia, which finished eighth with 219 points, Manistee in ninth with 228, Mason County Central in 12th with 322 points and Shelby in 13th with 332 points.
The state finals are Saturday, Nov. 2 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
August Rohde from Reed City was the regional champion with a time of 14:58.66, which was more than a minute faster than the runner-up.
Hart was led by freshman Silas Ackley, who finished ninth with a time of 16:49.77. Sophomore Aiden Schaner finished 11th in 16:57.48.
