ALLENDALE – The Holland West Ottawa girls’ cross country team turned in a dominating performance on Saturday and ran away with the Division 1 regional title.
The Panthers finished with 32 points, far ahead of runner-up Grand Haven (81 points) and Rockford (83).
West Ottawa was led by senior Helen Sachs, who won the individual title with a time of 17:32.77. All five of the Panthers’ runners finished in the top 13. Emma Gunnett was fourth, Collette Wierks was fifth, Ava Porras was ninth and freshman Mary Dolbow was 13th.
Grand Haven also will be heading to the state finals after finishing second. Valerie Beeck’s third-place finish paced the Bucs. Addy Smith finished 11th.
