MUSKEGON – The visiting Mona Shores Sailors are one victory away from a perfect regular season.
On Friday night, the Sailors traveled to Reeths-Puffer and handed the host Rockets a 40-0 defeat.
Mona Shores caps the regular season next Friday at home against Toledo Catholic. Reeths-Puffer travels to Forest Hills Eastern.
On Friday, Mona Shores quarterback Jonathan Pittman ran for two touchdowns and passed for another in the victory over the injury-riddled Rockets.
Pittman scored on a 28-yard run, then hit Tomarion Steward for a 31-yard touchdown pass. Later in the game, Pittman ran one in from the 3.
Tyrese McCorvey-Hill added a 19-yard touchdown run and James Starr scored from 5 yards out.
The Sailor defense also got involved in the scoring when Stewart picked off a pass and ran 89 yards for a score.
Reeths-Puffer quarterback Mason Darke passed for 122 yards and Sage Secrest rushed for 96. Lukas Johnson caught five passes for 67 yards.
