MONTAGUE – The Montague boys’ soccer team came out on top of a defensive battle with Fremont in the Division 3 district final on Wednesday evening.

Both teams were scoreless at the halftime break and through most of the second half.

The Wildcats’ Trevor Trevino finally penetrated the Packers’ defense with nine minutes left to play, which proved to be the game-winner.

The Wildcats outshot the Packers, 10-7.

Goalie Caleb Vissia made nine saves for the Packers.

Montague will face the winner of Kingsford vs. Grayling in the opening round of regional action on Tuesday. Kingsford vs. Grayling will be played on Saturday.
