MUSKEGON – Schoolcraft limited Muskegon Catholic to negative rushing yardage enroute to a 36-14 victory over the host Crusaders on Friday night.

MCC put together two scoring drives to inch its way back into the game, but Schoolcraft’s balanced attack proved too much for the hosts.

Bryan Convertini hit Vince Szymanski on a 38-yard touchdown with 8 seconds left in the first half, pulling the Crusaders within 14-8 at halftime. But Schoolcraft answered with two third-quarter scores to go up 28-8.

Convertini punched in another MCC score from 5 yards out to get within 28-14 midway through the fourth quarter. But Schoolcraft used some clock and scored the final touchdown with 1:16 left in the game to put it out of reach of the Crusaders.

Convertini went 13-for-23 for 219 yards. Szymanski had four catches for 89 yards to pace MCC receivers and Bode Zygmuntowski added five grabs for 70 yards.

Timothy Railling had a game-high 12 tackles to lead the Crusader defense. Convertini and Henry Rosema each had 9.5 stops and Szymanski had 6.5.

Schoolcraft finished with 467 yards of offense, 284 in the air and 183 on the ground.
