ANN ARBOR – The Muskegon Lumberjacks completed their first weekend sweep of the season on Saturday with a 4-0 win over the Under-17 Team USA squad.

The Lumberjacks will finally head back home for their first game at Trinity Health Arena on Friday against the Chicago Steel. The Jack began the season with nine road games.

Muskegon is now 4-2-3 on the season, good for 11 points and third place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference standings, just one point behind both the Madison Capitols and Dubuque Fighting Saints.  For the Lumberjacks, it was their third straight victory.

Both teams failed to score during the first period for the second night in a row.

The Lumberjacks exploded for three second-period goals as Teddy Spitznagel (:58), Cooper Pierson (1:26), and Tynan Lawrence (5:20) each found the back of the net.

Vaclav Nestrasil closed out the scoring with a goal 13:30 into the third period.

Drew Stewart, Danny Klaers, Rudolfs Berzkalns, and David Klee each had an assist for the Lumberjacks.

Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev earned his second shutout of the season, stopping all 13 shots faced.

Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.
