SPRING LAKE – The host Spring Lake Lakers ran away with the team title in Saturday’s girls race in the Mel Hall Cross Country Invitational.
Spring Lake’s five runners totaled 32 points, easily outdistancing the field, which included Detroit Country Day in second and Buchanan in third place.
Laker Alexis Kotkowicz was the overall winner with a time of 19:35.43. That was nearly 20 seconds ahead of runner-up Morgan Lawrence from Western Michigan Christian.
All five of Spring Lake’s runners finished in the top 10.
