SPRING LAKE – The Spring Lake volleyball team capped off the regular season in grand style on Wednesday night.
The Lakers took down Zeeland West, 25-19, 17-25, 25-16, 25-14, in an OK-Black match.
“We finally played two complete sets tonight in sets three and four,” said Spring Lake coach Edward Bailey. “The players were focused, serving was tough and errors were few. A great win to go into districts with.”
The Lakers’ Aliya Williams had 16 kills and six blocks and set a four-set match school record for hitting efficiency. Katherine Penning had six kills, three aces, nine digs and five blocks, while Brooke St. George had five kills and scored eight aces. Brianna Kirby chipped in four aces and four blocks. Peyton Hein made 15 assists.
Audrey Marine contributed 13 assists and seven digs. Lauren Nicles led the defense with 14 digs.
Spring Lake will be at Orchard View on Tuesday to take on Oakridge in the first round of the Division 2 district tournament.
